The United States Energy Information Administration (EIA) provides yearly estimates of energy consumption, ranging from not only different types of petroleum use, but also electric, natural gas, coal, renewable fuels... even nuclear and uranium use! This particular map shows the 2011 petroleum consumption data divided into five different categories: Residential, Commercial, Industrial, Transportation, and Electric Power consumptions. The mouseover shows the selected category's percent of total petroleum consumption ("total" = all five categories' consumptions added together, per state).
